BLACKLIGHT: RETRIBUTION

Blacklight RetributionBlacklight: Retribution  was released April 3, 2012 by Perfect World Entertainment. The game was developed by Zombie Studios. Blacklight: Retribution is a first person shooter with RPG elements.

On November 20, 2017, Hardsuit Labs has taken over this game as developer and publisher and it is now back on Steam. The DLC has been removed from the Steam store page as well. The game will ask for your Arc account so it can migrate your gameplay.

While Blacklight is a shooter first and foremost, its robust customization system gives it an almost RPG-like quality.

There are two ways to buy equipment in Blacklight: game play (GP) and Zen.

GP is earned after each battle, essentially serving as your “free” money. Zen, meanwhile, is purchased with real-world cash.

While many items can be bought with GP, the costs are significantly greater than if they’re to be purchased with Zen, creating the classic balance between paying for an early edge or grinding for a very long time.

While the game is highly polished, there are a few problems:

  • minigun
  • heal gun
  • hard suits

With the Onslaught Patch, the Onslaught mode, the S&D mode (search and destroy), the Last Team/Man Standing modes have been added, also with new weapons and armor pieces.

Weapon customization has much detail and each weapon can have several different receivers, ranging from assault rifles to shotguns.

Players can change the muzzle, barrel, magazine, optic sights, stock, camouflage and weapon tag, which is a sort of weapon emblem that hangs off of a lanyard hook.

Each section has many different kinds of attachments to put on, and there are also specific attachments for some receivers. For example, the Light Pistol receiver can be fitted with 3 barrels, all being associated with that one receiver.

There are also ‘premade’ weapons which saves the user from having to spend time customizing weapons. Premade weapons cannot be customized, except for the camouflage and the weapon tag. Weapon tags grant small bonuses to the weapon or character’s stats, while camouflage is only cosmetic.
