The new Sandisk Cruzer CZ59 U-Clip USB flash storage is available in a rainbow of colors.
Capacity ranges from 8GB, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB.
They are also available in red, green and blue among other colors. We prefer to have multiple colors so if we are using more than one stick for some reason we can more easily distinguish them.
The write speeds are slow at maybe 6-7 MB/s but read speeds are much better at about 32GB/s with a USB 2.0 port.
We use USB sticks a lot for installing Windows 10 etc. We also have one stick with a set of drivers for out machines so that when a machine needs to be cleaned up it can be done quickly.
The slide is a tad flimsy but it locks if you are careful to insert it., This seems to be the weakest aspect of the CZ59 series.
The removable clip is rather light weight but given the sticks weigh about 10 grams it’s not a problem. Better to be safe with them and use a secure pocket in a backpack for field use. This way they are not going to be lost.
The plastic sheath is a bit thin but these sticks are designed for a wide range of uses. USB sticks have become the removable storage unit of choice.
Sandisk includes their secure USB software in the sticks but if security is needed, better security is afforded with Bitlocker. We use Lenovo laptops which have hardware TPM chips to make security easy. We would like it if Microsoft pushed the industry to use TPM hardware so that secure systems are standard,
