Alien Rage was released on September 24, 2013 by City Interactive who also developed it. Alien Rage is a first person shooter.
The game started off as Alien Fear before it was changed to Alien Rage with being developed.
Gameplay is a standard scripted shooter where players work their way through several levels. After some levels there is a a boss fight to manage.
Players score points for kills and rapid action, these then upgrade the player’s ammo or resistance to damage. Load outs are basic, the player picks up ammo from the fallen.
Players are able to carry two weapons at a time, and also have a pistol with unlimited ammunition. The player character can use both human- and alien-manufactured weapons in the game, and alien weapons use a cool-down period instead of having to reload.
Weapons in the game include assault rifles, sniper rifles, shotguns, rocket launchers, and mini-guns.
The game’s graphics are comparatively good. The detail in the NPC is excellent.
The game has a an unbalanced cover system that protects the enemies but the player is left more in the open. Most other games that use a cover system are balanced for both the protagonist and the enemies alike. Grenades are a good example, the shock can pass through a barrier so the player needs to be at least 10 feed back to be comparatively safe which tels us the developer did not use Havok or PhysX.
The multiplayer mode gets rid of the aliens etc and the game’s developers motives become more clear. Unfortunately the servers had to few players for the game’s maps.
This game is now available on Steam as Alien Rage – Unlimited which bundles the single player and multiplayer parts. The basic game may take 6-10 hours to play, with the extras it may take another 3-6 more hours to complete.
The game features Steamworks with achievements.
