WATCH DOGS

headerWatch Dogs was released May 27, 2014 by Ubisoft. The game was developed by Ubisoft Montreal.  GRP is a 3rd person action shooter.

The open world design lets players freely roam Chicago, which includes the urban city, open countryside and slums. Ubisoft Montreal apparently has worked on this game since 2009.

The game is played from a third-person perspective and its world is navigated on-foot or by vehicle. Players control Aiden Pearce, a highly skilled grey hat hacker who can hack into the CtOS, a centralized system which manages the hyper-connected city of Chicago.

Players can choose to play either against the law, or for it as a criminal, or a vigilante. An online multiplayer mode is also provided in the game, allowing up to eight players to engage in both co-operative and competitive gameplay in a recreation of the single-player setting.

Watch Dogs is an action-adventure game played from a third-person perspective. Players complete missions, linear scenarios with set objectives, to progress through the story. Outside of missions, players can freely roam the open world of Chicago.

The game’s combat utilizes a combination of stealth components along with the mechanics of a cover-based third-person shooter.

All it takes is the swipe of a finger. We connect with friends. We buy the latest gadgets and gear. We find out what’s happening in the world. But with that same simple swipe, we cast an increasingly expansive shadow.

Gun shops are widely placed to purchase new weapons. The player can go to the train station or the harbor where they can take a boat.

With each connection, we leave a digital trail that tracks our every move and milestone, our every like and dislike. And it’s not just people. Today, all major cities are networked. Urban infrastructures are monitored and controlled by complex operating systems.

The fear of being hacked in broad daylight feels ripped from today’s headlines, but this is actually a scenario from Watch Dogs.

According to Ubisoft’s Morin, nearly everything Watch Dogs’ Aiden Pierce can do in the game from hacking into a pedestrian’s phone to remotely raising a drawbridge can be achieved in real life. Of course, that doesn’t mean you can do it with one touch of your smartphone, like he does.

No question that the developer was able to get this game polished enough that it became very popular thanks to the excellent artwork. This a flagship title for the developer and it shows.
